The Nothing Phone (1) is a smartphone created by Nothing, a consumer electronics startup founded by Carl Pei, the former president of OnePlus. The phone has a minimalist design and runs on Android 13 with Nothing OS’s own user interface. It has a 6.5-inch display, Snapdragon 765G chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 4,500mAh battery with fast charging support. The phone also has a 16MP front camera and a 50MP dual rear camera setup. Nothing recently announced the first software update for the Phone (1) since Android 13 1.5.3.

The update is small but important, it comes in at 91.79MB and includes some interesting features. The update includes support for the upcoming Ear (2) wireless earbuds, scheduled for release on March 22 at 10:00 ET. The update also features a new memory management algorithm that reduces app launch times by 35% and should extend the Phone’s battery life by lowering CPU load (1).

Also nothing improved system stability and offered smoother animations for popup, better transition of fingerprint from lock screen to AOD (always on screen), and new wallpapers. Additionally, the update now includes bug fixes, including an issue with glyph highlighting that would appear when receiving calls from WhatsApp. However, some users have reported issues with notifications not appearing when the panel is closed. Nothing has big plans for the future, including the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Nothing Phone (2) in the US.
