Remember when the first iPhones had these huge bezels? This is something Apple has been doing for a long time, but the company has slowly started to shrink the bezels and now the latest iPhone 14 series has a practically full-screen display. However, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max is said to raise the bet even higher and features a screen with the thinnest bezel ever seen in a smartphone.
The information comes through Ice Universe, a well-known informant who is fond of ultra-thin bezels. According to The Cat, Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone will feature impressively thin bezels of just 1.55mm, which is significantly smaller than the current iPhone 14 Pro Max (2.17mm). This would set a new record for the thinnest bezels on a smartphone currently held by Xiaomi 13 with 1.81mm bezels. By comparison, the Galaxy 22 and S23’s bezels are around 1.95mm.
Probably an interesting upgrade, but do you care about “ultra-thin” bezels? It’s definitely a matter of personal preference. Arguably, current iPhone models already have thin enough bezels and further downscaling may not affect the user experience.
While Ice Universe specifically mentions the Pro Max model, recently released renders also point to thinner bezels on the smaller iPhone 15 Pro. Both phones will continue to use the Dynamic Island design with a centered pill-shaped hole. Additionally, the design could also go to the vanilla iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. They can also flaunt a dynamic candidate, but lack the ProMotion and AOD features.
