A new drop test for the flagship smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series has recently surfaced online. The durability test shows high-end phones falling in different directions and answers the question of whether the S23 models are durable thanks to their eco-friendly design.

Drop test done by company Allstate Conservation Plans, who posted the video of the ordeal he went through on his official YouTube channel. In the video, we see the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra being dropped from a height of 1.8 meters from the front, back and sides. In fact, the results of these tests were compared with the Galaxy S22 series, the flagship phones of the South Korean technology giant in 2022. This comparison between the two generations was made to demonstrate the durability of the S23 with its new durable materials.

Looking at the video, we see three S23 models (and even the S22 series) being dropped twice face down and once on their back from a height of 1.8 meters by a robot called DropBot. All six models suffered front and rear glass damage, but the Galaxy S23 Ultra took first place with the least damage. This was quite noticeable despite the seating on the curved sides. Side drop tests showed only minor dents on the device’s aluminum frame.

Meanwhile, the base of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ broke after the front panel fell, even causing parts of the glass to lift and weaken. Even the aluminum armor was damaged. But despite all that, the Galaxy S23 series is just as durable, if not slightly better, as tests have shown that the S23 series outperforms its predecessors. In other words, the S23’s rugged design doesn’t compromise on durability. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 features recycled glass made from plastic from discarded fishing nets found in the ocean. So this real-life endurance test is pretty impressive.
