Yesterday, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo was finally officially launched in China. Being the world’s first smartphone to feature the new Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset, it makes the device the most powerful phone in the Redmi Note series to date. It is also the first in the series with 1TB of memory and also the most affordable.

Just hours after the phone’s launch, the company released its first sales figures. Redmi says it only takes 2.5 hours to break the 2023 sales record. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo hit the bestseller lists on the three leading e-commerce platforms in China, JD, Tmall and Pinduoduo.

In addition, the 1TB version of the device sold out in seconds, along with the Harry Potter version online. Redmi CEO Lu Weibing asks customers to check if there is Xiaomi nearby in their home.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is currently the cheapest 1TB smartphone in the market. Its official price is only 2,799 Yen (~$405). It’s also only available for 2,599 Yen (~$380) as part of launch deals.

Unfortunately, the brand did not disclose the number of units sold. Xiaomi used to share these numbers, but now it has stopped doing so. This is probably due to the drop in smartphone shipments these days. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to launch outside of mainland China as the Poco F5. The launch is scheduled for next week, but it may not happen.
