This is Tesla’s Class 8 electric truck. It’s powered by three engines and has about three times more power than a typical diesel semi-trailer, according to Tesla. The truck’s range reaches 800 km and its energy consumption is less than 1.2 kWh/km. Charging with electricity is about 2.5 times cheaper than refueling with diesel. Tesla promises operators fuel savings of up to $200,000 in the first three years.

It’s worth noting that the recall only affects a small number of Tesla’s electric trucks, but stresses that manufacturers must closely monitor the safety of their products and immediately address any defects that may arise. Tesla has yet to comment on the Semi-recall story, beyond the official reveal of the truth.
