As planned, the ZTE Axon 50 Ultra launched in China today. As the name suggests, this is the company’s latest premium flagship smartphone. However, it does not come with the latest powerful chipset or high-end mobile camera system. But it comes with a feature currently only offered by two consumer brands, Apple and Huawei.
The ZTE Axon 50 Ultra is built around a 6.67-inch flexible curved OLED display. The 10-bit panel offers 2400×1080 pixels (FHD+) resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. As such, it is limited to UFS 3.1 memory but uses LPDDR5x RAM.
There is a triple camera system on the back of the phone. The setup includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide unit and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens.
The main feature of the phone is that it supports bidirectional Beidou satellite communication system. Thus, users can send and receive emergency messages when they are out of network coverage.
The smartphone includes dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra support. Finally, it is powered by a 5000mAh battery and can charge at a maximum speed of 80W. Surprisingly, ZTE did not reveal the price and availability of its new phone.
