We’ve heard a lot of rumors about Apple’s entry-level smartphone lineup in recent years. The latest iPhone SE 3 (2022) is one of the most affordable phones you can buy right now. However, despite the device being very capable (thanks to its powerful A15 processor), the iPhone SE series still lags behind today’s level.

The new iPhone SE will launch “with a specially designed 5G modem in 2025,” according to a new leak from analyst Jeff Pu, first described in a dedicated MacRumors article.

The most intriguing aspect of this new information is that it reveals a slightly different timeline than the vast majority in the industry currently expect. According to other sources in the past, the iPhone SE 4 was supposed to be released in 2024. The reason why the next phone from the iPhone SE is so important is simple. Most reports suggest that Apple’s value-for-money model will use a version of the notchless iPhone design first introduced on the iPhone X in 2017.

With all that said, we’re not sure if the iPhone SE 4 will be like the iPhone XR or the iPhone 13/14, as another analyst expected. The difference between these three models is quite small compared to the current design. As such, no matter which iPhone Apple decides to dispose of, the iPhone SE 4 will have a much more modern look. Until 2025 is quite a long time and a lot can change in a year.
