According to a Weibo post last week from the same account that correctly leaked that the iPhone 14 models will launch in yellow, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have a matte back glass, just like the current Pro models.

With frosted glass, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will look more like the Pro models. That said, only the iPhone 15 Pro models are said to have a new titanium bezel and even thinner bezels around the screen, while the standard models are still expected to have an aluminum frame and the same bezel size.

The rear glass panel on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is officially removed for the first time since the iPhone 4S, making internal repairs easier. The switch to frosted glass is unlikely to affect this aspect of the design.

Typically, features and design elements that were initially exclusive to Pro models have eroded into lower-end iPhone models over the years. For example, OLED displays were only available on Pro models until the iPhone 12 series, while Dynamic Island is expected to be expanded to cover the entire iPhone 15 series this year.

While the source of this rumor has definitively leaked the information that the iPhone 14 will be released in the yellow months, they do not have a long-term track record, so there is no guarantee that their latest information will be correct. With all that said, the historical accuracy of the source makes this rumor worth sharing. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 series in September as usual.
