Samsung plans to launch two new foldable phones in the coming months, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, along with new tablets, smartwatches and possibly headphones. While details of these upcoming devices have surfaced online, a new report has revealed information about the selfie camera of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung will keep the 10-megapixel selfie camera on the Galaxy Z Flip 5. However, it remains unclear whether other camera features such as aperture and autofocus technology will change in Z Flip 5.

Despite the lack of an updated selfie camera, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s larger screen should make up for it. Thanks to the larger screen, taking high-quality selfies with the rear camera will be easier than on previous Galaxy Z Flip smartphones.

Also, a larger screen on the cover could make a dedicated selfie camera a bit redundant. Samsung could have completely abandoned it to create a proper full-screen internal display on its foldable, flip-style panels, especially given the larger cover screen and Flexible Mode capabilities of Samsung’s foldable devices.

In terms of purchasing decisions, the lack of an update to the selfie camera on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 should not be a cause for concern. While an update is fine, it is not critical to the overall functionality of the device. Thanks to the impressively enlarged display of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, users can take high-quality selfies with the main camera.
