Vivo Y78+ 5G was announced in China without any fanfare. As reported, this is the first Vivo Y series phone with a curved edge display. The phone also offers other notable features such as 50 megapixel dual camera system with OIS support, Snapdragon 6 series chip and 44W charging support.

Vivo Y78+ 5G features a large 6.78-inch OLED display with Full HD+ 1080×2400 pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 105 percent NTSC color gamut and 8000000:1. contrast ratio and 1.00 NIT brightness. It has an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

On the back of the Y78+ 5G is a dual camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a dual-LED flash. Y78+ comes preloaded with the latest Android 13 OS with OriginOS OS 3 on it.

To power the Y78+, Vivo has equipped it with a Snapdragon 695 chipset. It is equipped with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Y78+ also includes a 4,500mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. Y78+ 5G is packed with other features like dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. The dimensions of the smartphone are 162.24×74.79 x 7.89 mm and its weight is 177 grams.

Vivo Y78+ 5G price and availability

Vivo Y78+ 5G is available in three different models. The first variant to offer 8GB RAM + 128GB storage costs 1,599 yuan (~$232). The second model with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage costs 1,799 yuan (~$261). The third model, which offers 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, costs 1999 (~$290) respectively.

The Y78+ will be available in three different colors: Moon Shadow Black, Warm Sun Gold and Sky Blue. It is currently unknown whether the device will go on sale outside of China. It will go on sale in the domestic market from April 26.
