Analytical company Counterpoint Research has shared interesting statistics. At Apple, there is a significant increase in sales of refurbished iPhones – used smartphones that Apple officially sorts and sells at a discounted price.
Apple’s refurbished iPhone sales increased 16% in 2022, increasing its share of the smartphone aftermarket market to nearly 50%, from 44% in 2021 to 49% in 2022.
As Counterpoint Research analysts put it, this makes Apple “the fastest growing brand” in the world’s used and refurbished smartphone market. For Apple, the effect is twofold: Demand for new iPhones decreases, but demand for various subscription services increases.
By comparison, Samsung’s share fell from 28% to 26% and Huawei’s share fell from 4% to 2%. Other smartphone manufacturers, including Oppo and Vivo, maintained their former positions.
