According to Ice Universe, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to have a “folder-shaped” display cover. This new design is expected to occupy almost half of the body of the phone, with a jagged edge that creates a folder shape.

The irregular shape of the screen cover will give Samsung a unique opportunity to create new software features. The phone’s cameras do not allow the screen of the cover to work in the entire half body area, hence the folder design. However, the larger screen size of the flip is expected to make the device more user-friendly, making it one of the most important updates of the Galaxy Z Flip series. The screen can even run apps.

This will be the second time Samsung has increased the cover of the Galaxy Z Flip series with the Z Flip 3 with a 1.9-inch cover. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to feature a 3.4-inch panel that will offer users an enlarged display.

The phone is also said to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for Galaxy, 25W wired charging support, and One UI 5.1.1 based on Google’s latest Android 13. It is likely to launch in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants. Available in beige, gray, light green and light pink tones.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to feature a dual primary camera setup with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The device is expected to have the same 10-megapixel selfie camera as the Flip 4. It is also expected to offer AOD functionality similar to the iPhone 14 Pro, allowing users to customize their phone’s screen.

The phone will be the successor to last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and is said to launch at the end of July instead of the usual August schedule.
