Sony rarely joins the smartphone market. The Japanese brand releases several Xperia phones each year. Sony has announced that it will launch its new Xperia phone in its market on May 11 at 13:00 local time. Although the name of the upcoming offer has not been revealed clearly, it is expected to be Sony Xperia 1 V. The device will arrive as a successor to last year’s Xperia 1 IV.

The Sony Xperia 1 V unveiling will be streamed live on the brand’s official YouTube channel. The company says its upcoming Xperia phone will feature a next-gen sensor and next-gen imaging. Apart from that, Sony did not reveal any additional details about the smartphone.

The Sony Xperia 1 V surfaced in February of this year in leaked images alongside a live image. The smartphone will have a similar design to its predecessor. It will have a high aspect ratio with minimal screen bezels and an elegant look. On the right edge of the phone are the volume buttons, the power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner and the camera shutter button. There is a vertically mounted camera module protruding on the back. It includes two sensors, a periscope and an LED flash.

In terms of key specs, the Sony Xperia 1 V is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM. According to rumors, the camera consists of a 12MP main lens, a 12MP periscope and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. The upcoming smartphone may feature the same 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
