China still accounts for the majority of iPhone production. But in recent years, Apple has been trying to diversify its supply chain with the help of other countries. Now Apple has started to assemble the iPhone 14 in Brazil.
A reader of the Brazilian blog MacMagazine, who recently purchased a blue iPhone 14 in Brazil, was surprised to find that the device in the box was assembled in Brazil by Foxconn Brazil based in São Paulo. So far, only the regular iPhone 14 is assembled in Brazil.
Earlier, the company started assembly of iPhone 13 and iPhone SE in Brazil. The country imposes high taxes on imported products, including many Apple devices. For this reason, some companies invest in the assembly of their products in Brazil, as it provides a reduction in taxes on the sale of these products.
The 128GB iPhone 14 cost around $1,520, but the same model is now down to around $1,000 at local retailers. Apple hopes iPhone 15 assembly will begin simultaneously in China and India this year.
