Google Pixel gets a life-saving feature

Google’s Pixel phones are packed with a variety of useful features, including call scanning, crash detection, and more. It looks like we’ll be able to add sound notifications to this list soon.

9to5Google took a look at the latest version of Android System Intelligence, discovering a “loud notification” feature in Google’s At-A-Glance widget for Pixel. So what does that mean?

The screenshot of the feature states that the app will notify you when “loud sound is detected that harms your hearing”.

Google isn’t the first mobile brand to offer voice notifications. Through the Apple Watch app, Apple offers noise alerts that notify you when the average three-minute volume reaches or exceeds a certain threshold (e.g. 80, 90, 100 decibels). The iPhone maker also claims that it doesn’t record any sound, so rest assured.

We hope to see the same powerful app for voice notifications on Google Pixel phones. There is currently no timeline for the feature, but it is expected to be among the new Pixel features arriving every three months.
