In December 2020, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 9 Power smartphone in India, targeting low-budget customers. The device is priced at INR 12,999 (~$180) for the 6GB RAM variant. It has features like Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC, 6.53-inch Full HD+ teardrop display, quad rear cameras and more.

The device, which was launched in the country with the Android 10 operating system pre-installed, is now getting its second and possibly last major update. The Android 12-based MIUI 14 update is officially rolling out for the device with build number V14.0.2.0.SJQINXM. The file size of the update is 640 MB. According to the changelog, the latest update includes the April 2023 security patch and new features of MIUI 14. The update includes a refreshed visual design with a minimalist and fluid aesthetic with plenty of white space and clean lines.

Another remarkable feature of MIUI 14 is super icons. These customizable icons can change their appearance depending on the wallpaper or theme chosen by the user. Additionally, the update offers folders highlighting frequently used apps for easy access on the home screen.

MIUI 14 also has many other features and improvements, including improved search in settings with search history and categories, animal widgets that display cute animals on the home screen (China only), and a new design language that redefines personalization.
