Chinese tech giant Huawei is reportedly working on its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Huawei Mate 60, and several rumors and leaks have surfaced about the device, including its odd-looking circular camera design. The latest updates suggest that the Mate 60 will feature a new Oreo-style design, as demonstrated in a previous leak by renowned leak maker RODENT950. The image shows that the rear camera housing will be divided into two parts by a wide horizontal band that is the same color as the rest of the back panel.

According to RODENT950, the Mate 60 series will feature five new devices with this updated design, including successors to the Mate 50 and a possible future RS variant. The four rear cameras of the Mate 60 will be XMAGE branded.
Huawei started testing the standard Mate 60 model
According to reporter Wangzaiknows, Huawei has started testing the standard model Huawei Mate 60, and the current test is with the Snapdragon 8+ chipset. The company, which has been using Snapdragon 8+ since the launch of the Huawei Mate 50 series, has also equipped the Huawei P60 series with this chipset. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset uses TSMC’s 4nm process node and provides 30% less power than the Snapdragon 8.
However, looking at the past trends, Huawei is changing the main components of the smartphone before the final release. Therefore, it is not known whether the current processor will be used in the final device. The company can use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Pro or Pro+ version, while Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for standard version. Huawei has not yet announced an official launch date for the Mate 60 series, but it is expected to be unveiled at an event in October 2023.
