The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is Samsung’s flagship product. The phone packs some impressive specs for a flagship smartphone. The company is still working on the device to improve the whole experience. It was recently reported that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will soon feature a 2x portrait mode that will allow users to take magnified portrait photos.
Famous whistleblower Ice Universe shared a screenshot of the Samsung forum where the official moderator confirmed that the 2x zoom option appears when recording a video. This option is said to use a 50MP ISOCELL HP2 primary 200MP sensor crop, meaning it’s not a simple digital crop from the current shot. As a result, the quality of the video recording will increase significantly.
Answering one of the community’s questions, the forum’s official administrator said that the company’s engineers have already checked the image quality. As a result, factors such as brightness and other aspects of quality will not be affected when using third-party 2x zoom while recording video. It is unclear whether this feature will be available on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S23 or Galaxy S23+.
The brand has yet to reveal the specific timing of the implementation of this feature. But there are speculations that it could launch later this month or in the coming months. We recommend that you treat this information with some caution, as there is currently no official confirmation.
