Sources told Bloomberg that in May Chinese government officials were ordered to replace foreign computers with a nationally developed operating system in exchange for local computers.

Measures are being taken to end dependency on the US and other geopolitical rivals that could impose sanctions on China. But, according to Bloomberg’s interlocutors, this huge shift demonstrates China’s strong concern for ISIS. At the same time, country authorities have more confidence in local computer, laptop, server and software manufacturers.

The demand for replacing foreign branded personal computers with domestic computers has become widespread among central government agencies and government-supported companies. Unnamed sources said such a change should be made within the next two years.

The Chinese government is expected to replace at least 50 million devices at the central government level alone.

Thus, China aims to reduce its dependence on “geopolitical rivals such as the USA”. These actions may also be in preparation for the imposition of new US sanctions. Authorities want to protect important institutions from foreign technology. This will greatly affect HP and Dell, the first PC suppliers in China.
