Done: Apple to equip new iPhone USB Type-C

It will be what has matured for a long time. Apple devices, including the iPhone, will lose the proprietary Lightning port and will soon switch to the Type-C connector used by other manufacturers. This information was shared by authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

This applies not only to the iPhone, but also to other gadgets of the company: AirPods, Magic Keyboard / Trackpad / Mouse and MagSafe Battery.

This is because the European Commission is pushing the people of Cupertino at the legislative level to switch iPhone to Type-C. And since the key to Lighting’s success is smartphones, it wouldn’t make sense to equip devices with different connectors – it would inconvenience the end user and disenchant the Apple ecosystem.

The analyst also commented on rumors that Apple will completely abandon any connector on the iPhone. According to him, this will not happen in the near future, because wireless charging technology is still in development and has its limitations.

previously reported Lightning will disappear from iPhone starting with iPhone 15. Thus, all mobile devices will become a single standard for wired charging – Type-C.
