One of the problems we often encounter when we buy a new television is related to sound. As a simple matter of space, having a flat television means that the space available to place speakers is small and therefore affects the quality and level of sound we can achieve. But we can solve it for very little money… Be careful.

It is possible to improve the sound we have on a smart TV if we buy, for example, a soundbar or home theater system. But if you want to save some money, a very interesting option is to get an Amazon Fire TV Stick and an Echo Dot (or two if you want a stereo pair). In this way, for very little money You can improve the sound coming out of your TVsomething some family members already practice at home.

Better sound and easy to place

This is not the first time that acquaintances and family members have complained about the volume of their television or the poor sound it delivers. There are settings that can be made in the sound settings, but be careful, it will not work miracles. That’s why they almost always ask me how I evaluate buying a new TV. And in that sense, depending on their usage, my answer is almost always the same: Use Fire TV plus Echo Dot combination.

It’s an advantage that can be especially useful for users who have one of the models with the highest sound quality, such as the Echo Studio or Echo, but in terms of price/performance, I always recommend the Echo Dot.

Also given the small size of Amazon speakers, we can easily place them in almost any position and location. We can even place them on the wall, as we have already found supports on the market that allow this.

The only thing we have to consider when using Fire TV and Echo Dot together for audio output is both devices must be under the same Wi-Fi network. Starting from this base, we will configure everything using the Alexa application, which we can download from both the App Store and the Google Play Store.

We are looking for the section on the first screen “Echo devices” As we saw before in the upper left, we are looking for the Fire Stick we will use on the new screen. In this case, it’s the one that appears with the title “Jose’s Firestick.” We just need to click on it.

Next we will see a list with all Fire TV settings and we look at the first one, the one corresponding to the speaker, and click “Change”. In the new window we must click on “Select preferred speaker” and here we will select the “Echo Point” that we want to use.

In my case, I chose to use the Echo Dot as the speaker associated with the Fire TV. All you have to do is click on it “Castle” and from then on, when we use the Fire TV, the sound will come out of the Echo or connected Echo speakers (we can set up a stereo or “home theater” system) instead of the TV speakers.
