Some manufacturers use their own operating systems in televisions. This is the case of LG with webOS or Samsung that has been using Tizen on their TVs for years. Here in Spain both operating systems are only found on TVs of their respective brands, but this may be about to change.
As with webOS in other regions, Tizen would reach manufacturers other than Samsung. This has been confirmed by Channelnews media and here they confirm: Tizen is coming to TVs from some manufacturers in Australia, New Zealand and Europeincluding Spain.
Tizen is coming to some Aldi TVs
In particular, some models from manufacturers such as Akai, Bauhn and Linsar will have Tizen as the operating system on their televisions. This could be thanks to an agreement between the Korean company and Tempo, a Sydney-based distributor. This company will offer TVs with Tizen in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain.
The first of these will come to Aldi stores, 65 inch 4K LCD TV from Bauhn manufacturer. This model will cost around AUD 699 (more than about 470 euros in exchange rate). It will have Tizen as its operating system and will also use native applications of this software. Other manufacturers such as Linsar and Akai will offer their TVs through The Good Guys and Harvey Norman chain stores, respectively.
Tizen has been on Samsung televisions since 2015. This operating system is integrated into every television the company releases, but updates are limited to fixing bugs or introducing a strange feature. This means that Every new great release of Tizen is reserved for every new TV coming to these stores.
According to the report, it seems The Tizen version that these new televisions will tell will be the 2021 version.therefore, they will not be able to take advantage of the latest features of this operating system.
LG also has a closed ecosystem with webOS, but in recent years it has expanded its use to more manufacturers outside of Spain. At the moment, More than 20 manufacturers are using webOS and the company’s intention is to increase that figure to over 200.
Things are changing drastically at Google, as the Android TV system is available on TVs from manufacturers like Sony, Philips, Xiaomi, TCL and more.
