Researchers have dismissed the link between smartphone use and an increased risk of brain cancer. The study was published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI).
During the scientific study, the authors uncovered cases of cancer in patients during the period from 1975 to 1992. The experts also looked at the period between 1995 and 2008, when cancer cases rose. The researchers emphasized that the radiation from the smartphone does not directly affect the tumor formation. The author of the study, Dr. “We can be sure that cell phones don’t cause brain cancer,” said Jessica Jones.

Experts analyzed the health of nearly one million women in the UK. Studies have shown that phone users do not have an increased risk of developing a brain tumor. “Under normal circumstances, using a smartphone does not increase the risk of brain tumors,” said study co-author Kirstin Pirie. Doctors attributed the increased risk of tumors to a bad environment, contaminated food and excess weight.
However, the study concludes that the results of scientific studies may be limited. Experts have studied cases where patients do not use their smartphones very often – only 18 percent of study participants spoke on the phone for 30 minutes or more per day. Scientists have come to the conclusion that those who use their devices in moderation reduce the effect of radio frequency waves on the body.
