After the US declared Google a monopoly, the US Department of Justice recommended selling Google Chrome to “break” this monopoly. Is Chrome really that important in Google’s monopoly? If we look at the most used web browsers in Turkey in 2024, we can easily see how important Chrome is for Google.

According to the information we obtained from Statcounter, between January and November 2024 chrome, 75.43%It is by far the most preferred web browser in Turkey with a speed of 100,000. Safari, the default browser of iPhone and Mac computers, comes in second with 12.64%. Samsung Internet, the browser for Samsung phones and TVs, is in third place with 3.49%.

Edge is even behind Yandex and Opera

The most notable members of the list are undoubtedly Yandex and Edge. For a while there were ads on all channels and Fenerbahçe’s jersey sponsor Yandex has only 2.61% market share. Edge, which Microsoft did forty somersaults to popularize, seems to have suffered the same fate as the unplugged Internet Explorer and is being used as a “Chrome download application” as its market share is even below Yandex and Opera at 2.24% .
