In 1993 we started to enter our homes in Turkey. Domain names with the extension “.tr”was registered and administered by the Middle East Technical University (METU) until May 5, 2019. However, on this date, the management and assignment of these domain names were transferred to the Information Technologies and Communications Authority through the redelegation process to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Numbers and Names (ICANN).

On the same date, efforts were launched to open a new era for “.tr” domain names. That work has finally come to an end and the TRABIS system, which will open a new page on the Internet in Turkey, has been prepared. System, It will take effect from today (September 14). Documentation requirement disappears when assigning some “.tr” domain names!

With the implementation of TRABIS, some domain names acquired over more than 20 years by filing documents are now undocumented, According to the “first come, first served” rule can be assigned. The domains in question are as follows:

Domain names that were previously undocumented and will remain:

Domain names that are only received by submitting a document:

• edu.tr*
• gov.tr*
• k12.tr*

• tsk.tr*

*Domain names that can only be obtained through applications from public institutions and organizations.
