The used car market today remained much higher than new car prices. The government has announced a measure to prevent this situation and make it easier to own a vehicle. Zero vehicles 6 months or 6000 kilometers The said regulation, which prevents its sale, entered into force last day.

But as far as we’ve seen from day one of the new regulations, at least this measure didn’t quite work. Because car dealers resorted to cunning ways to avoid the precaution. New vehicles, just above the 6,000 kilometer mark, Mileage like ‘6001, 6100, 6500’ listed with values. This situation came up in a test we also did.

Our tests showed the cunning tactics sellers used from day one:

Just before the Ministry of Commerce’s 6-month, 6,000-kilometer limit on new vehicle sales came into effect, we decided to run a test on the most popular used vehicle sales platform. As part of this test, we looked at the result of the regulations in 2022 so far. We selected the 10 best-selling cars and especially the ‘0 kilometer’ information for each vehicle. We have added 3 different ads per vehicle to our favorites.

The vehicle models we added to our favorites were as follows:

  • Fiat Egea Sedan
  • Renault Clio HB
  • Toyota Corolla
  • Dacia Duster
  • Fiat Egea Cross
  • Renault Megane Sedan
  • Hyundai i20
  • Renault Talian
  • Hyundai Bayon
  • Volkswagen Passat

Mileage of new vehicles has suddenly increased to 6,001 and higher:

One day after the regulation came into effect, on September 16, we reviewed the 30 ads we added to our favorites. Unfortunately, there was no price drop in any of these ads. On the contrary, 21 of the 30 ads were removed from publication, 9 were edited and continued to be published. We’ve seen changes in the vehicle’s announcement information.

The view was the same in all our favorites and unpublished ads: the mileage of the vehicles, It started showing as 6.001 and above. In these updates, the prices of the vehicles have not changed in any way; not down or out. The mileage information of the vehicles has been updated in 9 of our favorite advertisements as follows (we have chosen 3 examples because the situation is the same in all advertisements):

Not just our favorites, but the entire used market is filled with 6,001 mile vehicles:

Now if you go to the websites that sell used cars, you will see vehicles with ‘6.001+’ miles instead of vehicles with zero miles. While the ministry’s new measure does not appear to have any effect that will relieve the market at this point, it is aimed at exploiting this situation. It is not yet known whether additional measures will be taken.

Sales made without complying with the restrictions have no deterrent penalty.
