57-year-old Mustafa Halıcıoğlu made an extraordinary find that sheds light on the hidden history of the city. Halicioglu House, located on the same street as the historical house of Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, now hosts an ancient underground wonder.

The underground settlement, which extends for approximately 200 meters, changed its purpose over the centuries and served as a living space and stable, causing garbage and waste to accumulate in its cells.

Later, houses were built on top of the underground complex, completely hiding its existence. Mustafa Halıcıoğlu explained the long process of cleaning the settlement as follows:

We cleaned up all the dirt and opened a real residential building with three, sometimes even four floors. It must be completely excavated.

It is noteworthy that the discovery of this hidden underground miracle took place five years ago. Halıcıoğlu said that nothing is known about the existence of the underground complex. Previously, these areas were used as warehouses and haylofts. Within 5 years the settlement was cleared of dirt. The man emphasized that the main task now is to preserve the complex for future generations.

The discovery of this 2,000-year-old underground settlement is further evidence of the rich history and archaeological significance of the Kaiser site. The efforts of Mustafa Halıcıoğlu and his team to preserve this historical site contribute to a deeper understanding of Turkey’s cultural heritage. The discovered underground settlement is a unique and valuable contribution to the historical picture of the Kaiser region.
