The new CNH model starts production this week; it is necessary? see what will change

From June 1 (Thursday), national driving licenses (CNH) will be issued in a new format. According to the National Road Traffic Department (Senatrans), the new CNH will modern and safe, with information printed in Portuguese, English and French, making it easier to use the documentation in other countries. It is important to note that CNH replacement is optional and the transition to the new document will be gradual for new licenses and document expiration will remain unchanged, so those who prefer can wait until their current license expires before purchasing a new CNH. Only drivers renewing their CNH and new drivers in training will receive the new version of the document.

The validity of the new CNH will remain the same in accordance with the rules of Law No. 14.071:

• Validity of CNH 10 years – for drivers under 50;

• Valid for 5 years CNH – for drivers aged 50 and over and under 70;

• Valid for 3 years CNH – for drivers aged 70 and over.

What has changed in the new CNH?

New national driver’s licenses will now be green. A table will appear showing the vehicle models that the driver can drive. A little lower there will be medical restrictions and a record of paid activity. When identifying a driver, it will be possible to use a social name. In addition, information printed in Portuguese, English and French will be included to facilitate the use of the documentation in other countries.

In addition to green, the license contains yellow and graphic elements using glow-in-the-dark ink, holograms, and UV-responsive printing. The QR code printed on the back of the document will remain unchanged, allowing the driver to access the digital transport wallet via a smartphone app.

In addition to these changes, the document also introduces:

• The abbreviation BR is printed on Pantone 110U with yellow fluorescence.
• The coat of arms of the Republic is printed in pantone 110U with yellow fluorescence;
• Guilloche side stripe ((Different Safety Standards) with the text “Valid throughout the country”. Positive and negative micro-letters with the words “CNH” with a technical glitch in chalcography, printed in Pantone yellow 356U with fluorescence;
• Green and yellow stripe with negative guilloches and ORIGINAL lettering. Positive and negative micro letters “CNH” with technical error in calcography, printed in Pantone yellow 356U and 110U with fluorescence;
• Stripe with guilloche negatives labeled No Lamination printed on Pantone 110U with yellow fluorescence;
• Positive pink stripe with the text “Distrito Federal” and the abbreviation “BR” printed in pantone 356U with yellow fluorescence.
