Other finds include two wooden statues of weeping goddesses – Isis and Nephthys. This was announced by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on its Facebook page.

It was the first capital of a unified Egypt – Memphis, founded in the late IV millennium BC, about 25 kilometers south of modern Cairo. On the southern outskirts of this city is the necropolis of Sakkar, a huge tomb complex measuring approximately 7×1.5 kilometers.

This is from the early dynastic period (IV-III BC. The name of this necropolis comes from the name of the death god Sokar, who was worshiped here, personifying the dead form in which life is hidden, and associated with ideas about the life-giving power of the earth.

The Saqqara necropolis contains the tombs of the pharaohs of the I-VI dynasties, the most famous of which is the stepped pyramid of Djoser (ca. 2650 BC). The noble inhabitants of Memphis continued to be buried here, even in antiquity, until the city lost its strategic importance. Recent archaeological excavations of this monument have revealed the virgin tomb of the priest and the name of the chief wife of Pharaoh Jedkar.

It is noteworthy that not only people are buried in Saqqara. Scientists have discovered tombs containing cat and scarab mummies, and have found eight million dog mummies that appear to have been sacrificed to the god Anubis.

Scientists from the Egyptian Archaeological Mission, working in the necropolis of sacred animals in Saqqara, discovered a large hiding place with ancient artifacts on this monument. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Antiquities, said archaeologists found 150 bronze statues of various sizes depicting ancient Egyptian deities, including Anubis, Min-Amon, Osiris, Isis and Nesita.

In addition, the finds include a headless bronze statue of the architect Imhotep, as well as a collection of bronze artifacts used during rituals dedicated to the goddess Isis.

Waziri added that archaeologists also managed to find metal tombs containing 250 painted wooden sarcophagi, along with well-preserved mummies from the late period (around 500 BC). The scientists also have a collection of amulets and wooden sculptures. Inside one of the sarcophagi, the researchers found a well-preserved papyrus that may contain passages from the Book of the Dead. This find has now been transferred for restoration and examination of the texts in it.

Archaeologists also found two well-preserved wooden statues with gilded faces depicting the goddesses Isis and Nephthys in mourning. In addition, excavations have uncovered tombs from the New Kingdom (around 1500 BC) containing many household items and jewelry, including bracelets, earrings and necklaces.
