Video of the explosion of the Crimean bridge is being spread by conspirators, as is the recent collapse of the bridge in Baltimore

Despite the video evidence, many people believe that it is all fake and that they are the ones who know the real reason behind the incident. Among the countless theories compiled by Gizmodo, one stands out. Its author published the recording of the moment of the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, and dozens of uninformed Internet users noticed this lie and republished it on their pages.

A new conspiracy theory

An anonymous internet user with the nickname @cackenbools and the blue verification check (of course) Posted on Twitter what he calls an “alternative perspective.” In actual footage of the accident, the camera sees the bridge from the side and from a distance. In the same so-called alternate angle, the camera is mounted on a bridge. But in fact, this is the so-called Crimean bridge, which Russia illegally built and thus connected its territory with the occupied Ukrainian Crimea.

“Another angle on the Francis Scott Key Bridge shows a large explosion,” @cackenbools wrote in his post on 24 Channel’s screenshot.

All this can be taken as a stupid joke and trolling, even without a single “but”. Misleading as of this article The tweet garnered 7,000 likes and 2,000 retweets. Many of those who posted the post rightfully pointed out in the comments that it was fake, but you can also see many who believe it to be true.

Interestingly, this post was later followed by a comment from the Community Notes saying: “This is an attack on the Crimean Bridge and has nothing to do with the Francis Scott Key Bridge.”. But that doesn’t stop users from continuing to spread lies.

After Community Notes added the fix, @cackenbools retweeted his own tweet containing video of the explosion and Wrote: “You know, they still haven’t found out who blew up the Kerch Bridge. I think it was the Singaporeans.”. And Additional: “It could also be Tajiks”. The fact is that the Dali ship that destroyed the bridge in Baltimore was sailing under the flag of Singapore.

Other conspiracy theories about the reasons for the bridge collapse

If you think this is the only “trace of Ukraine” in this story, wait. Another lie is the claim that the bridge collapse was a Ukrainian conspiracy against America. The ZeroHedge website shared a screenshot that allegedly showed that the captain of the Singapore-flagged Dali ship, which caused the bridge to collapse, was a Ukrainian man.

This has allowed conspiracy theorists to run wild with their ideas and speculations. However, the BBC’s Shayan Sardarizadeh later reported: The ship’s crew consisted of 22 people, all from India..

According to journalists, in 2016, Dali had a Ukrainian captain for about five months, but this was not the case for a long time. It’s unclear whether the photo of the alleged Ukrainian captain is real or fake (possibly created by artificial intelligence), but one thing is clear: The screenshot itself is fake as the original ship’s crew list page does not look like this.

Other conspiracy theories include:

• The bridge collapsed due to racial diversity and corporate America’s anti-racist initiatives.

• Hackers hacked the ship and purposely diverted it to the bridge.
