The Planet 9 theory, based on previous work by planetary researchers at the Cal Institute of Technology, suggests the existence of a large planet beyond Neptune.

This theory is based on the behavior of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), such as the dwarf planet Sedna, discovered by researchers at the California Institute of Technology in 2004.

Sedna’s unusual orbit, along with the strange orbits of other TNOs, points to the gravitational influence of an invisible celestial body. This theoretical planet, dubbed “Planet 9” after Pluto’s controversial reclassification in 2006, offers a plausible explanation for the observed orbital anomalies.

Despite the lack of direct observations, scientists claim that the gravitational disturbances affecting TNO strongly indicate the existence of a hidden planet. Researchers emphasize the need for advanced space observatories, such as the Vera C Rubin Observatory in Chile, to further explore the outer regions of the solar system.

The anticipated launch of the Vera C Rubin Observatory in 2025 heralds a new era of exploration. Scientists from all over the world will gain invaluable insight into the mysteries of the farthest reaches of our solar system. As the search for Planet 9 continues, scientists remain cautiously optimistic about solving the mystery of our celestial neighbor.
