Lyubomyr Romankiv is a Ukrainian inventor, one of the leading scientists of IBM, the author of almost 70 patents and two dozen discoveries, a member of the national scout organization Plast. The portrait of the deceased scientist is included in the US National Hall of Fame along with the portrait of Steve Jobs.

More than 50 years at IVM

Romankov developed a revolutionary technology, namely, a method of recording information on a hard disk with a magnetic head. The beginning of the era of personal computers is associated with this invention.

Romankiv worked at IBM for more than 50 years. He is the author of more than 150 scientific papers and has received 25 awards from IBM alone.

Naukovets was born in Zhovkva, Lviv Region, on April 17, 1931. He left for the United States with his family during World War II.

For many years Lyubomyr Romankiv served as the primary platoon leader. He was the initiator and organizer of many strata activities, including powwows, camps, and jamborees, which are traditional scout meetings.

In 2008 he was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise for his significant personal contribution to the development of the Ukrainian Scout movement.
