Now USA will not buy tantalum from Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. It is referred to as an important element in the supply chain in the manufacture of both military and civilian systems used by the country’s Ministry of Defense and is therefore a matter of national security.

The new rules were introduced in accordance with the provisions of the 2020 US defense budget. Over the past two years, the agency has received suggestions and comments from stakeholders on the new rules and has now approved the final text of the changes. The rules go into effect on August 25.

At the same time, the document states that the new rules were introduced “with some exceptions”. It’s unclear exactly what happened.
