Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman personally announced the establishment of New Murabba Development Co. He will be engaged in the construction of this “unique place to live, work and play”.

How is it going to be?

• The Mukaab project will be built on the basis of the concept of sustainable development, green areas, pedestrian and bicycle paths“will promote a healthy lifestyle and public activity.” This includes the concept of 15-minute walking access (according to this, every resident can reach everything they need in a maximum of 15 minutes).
• It will also be placed in a museum, a university of technology and design, an immersive multi-purpose cinema and more than 80 entertainment and cultural facilities. It will also include 9,000 hotel rooms, 980,000 square meters of retail space, offices, entertainment and public facilities.
• The complex, which will accommodate hundreds of thousands of residents in 104,000 residences, will have an area of ​​19 square kilometers. It can fit 20 Empire State Buildings inside.

The entire structure, with each façade measuring 400 meters long, will consist of a central tower resting on a spiral foundation, a dome with a screen to reflect the magnificent views, and outer walls.

Immersive worlds

But the fantasticness of the project is not only in its size and scope. The designers want to make the building an ideal place to immerse in the digital and virtual worlds.

Several completely different holographic worlds will be created inside. Once here, a person can be transported to Mars, deep waters or the distant future in an instant. It will actually be a giant virtual planetarium.

Of course, the architects will not be able to realize all the ideas shown in the video – this is because humanity still does not have full-fledged hologram technology, and all existing ideas are just an optical illusion. The company is clearly confident that technology will advance far in years of preparation and construction. However, we have a chance to see the foundation – the building and its interior. The example of The Line city shows that Saudi Arabia is committed to implementing even such projects, which are unlikely at first glance, without hesitation.

The project has already begun to cause concern among the “greens” – how environmentally friendly it will be is not yet known. According to the program, the cubic skyscraper should be built by 2030.
