The first reports of this appeared on Reddit. When trying to access the service, a blocking banner appears on the screen, in which viewers are advised to refuse anti-ad utilities or sign up for a paid subscription.
YouTube employees confirmed that the feature is being used as a trial and explained the decision as ad revenues ensure the service is free for everyone. It is not yet known how many people are facing the restriction.

It should be noted that ads are shown at the beginning of the videos and during playback for users who have not purchased a paid subscription. However, ad blockers completely remove these attachments. This results in the company losing funds. Premium subscription disables ads. Therefore, it is profitable for the company not to use blockers, subscribe or watch ads.
It’s unclear how long this test will take or when it will roll out globally.
