Affected by the chip crisis as well as the US trade sanctions, Chinese developer Oppo will make its own chips for its flagship phones.

As part of an agreement with Qualcomm, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cell phone chips, the chips will be developed specifically for Oppo phones. It is believed that with this breakthrough, companies will be relieved in terms of both price and software and hardware communication.

According to the news in the South China Morning Post, Oppo, which closed the Zeku chip development business, will continue its journey with Qualcomm in the production of special chips. Oppo, which produces phones with MediaTek and Qualcomm processors, is expected to start producing special chips similar to Apple and Google.

The race of big brands to produce their own special chips started to heat up day by day. This trend, started by Apple, spread first to Google and then to Samsung with the Galaxy S23. Companies are looking for ways to increase their hardware dominance by using their own proprietary chips, especially in flagship flagship phones.

It is assumed that special chips will also appear for OnePlus, the subsidiary of Oppo. As with most of the flagship phone series released at that time, the phones of the two brands had very similar hardware.
