Alexis Saborit was convicted of first-degree murder of his girlfriend, whom he beheaded and whose body was dumped on public roads.
The events were recorded on July 28, 2021 in Shakopee, Minnesota, USA.
The victim was 55-year-old America Thayer, who was attacked in a car while the couple were on their way to appear in court on charges of domestic violence.
During the trial, it was established that Aleksey Saborit attacked the victim in the car with an 8-kilogram weight.
He later cut off his own head with a machete.
Witnesses watched the subject remove the body from the vehicle, drop the murder weapon, and flee.
However, the same day he was caught by the police.
The prosecution documented pre-attack threats, in addition to various attacks that were classified as abuse, for which “intentionality” was proven to have led to the murder.
The defendant’s defense tried to prove that the attack was carried out in “self-defense”, but a large amount of evidence and witnesses refuted his claim.
A witness told the court that the couple had been arguing in Spanish before the attack; Apparently, the unsub didn’t let her go to the trial.
