Google is adding two new features to search for fake and artificially generated images to reduce misinformation during the development of AI services.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Bloomberg.
The first of two new features from Alphabet Inc. It’s called “about this image” and provides additional context: information about the initial indexing in the search engine, the place of the first post, and other places of their posts on the network.
“The aim is to help users identify the original source and to support the image with incriminating evidence provided by the media,” the statement said.
Google will also tag every image generated by AI and its tools. The company is also working with other platforms to enable similar tagging practices for such images, including Midjourney and Shutterstock.
Previously, Microsoft-backed company Truepic offered systems that ensured images were not tampered with from capture to delivery.
As reported by Ukrinform, artificial intelligence (AI) developer Geoffrey Hinton said the latest technology could pose a “more urgent” threat to humanity than climate change.
