The professor, who will spend 100 days underwater, has already set a world record and continues on his way.

Professor Dituri lives at the “Jules’ Underwater House” located at the bottom of a 9-foot-deep lagoon in Key Largo, Florida, USA. Unlike a submarine, the house does not use technology to adapt to increased underwater pressure. Inside the scientist is everything he needs for a comfortable life: technology, internet, food and even educational equipment.

Record

At the time the original Metro material was published, Dituri had spent 74 days in solitary confinement. Today is already 76 days. The previous record of 73 days, two hours and 34 minutes belongs to two professors from Tennessee – Bruce Cantrell and Jessica Fein. They carried out their experiments in the same place in 2014.

Dubbed “Project Neptune 100,” the mission will conclude on June 9, after the scientist spent 100 days underwater. Organized by the Marine Resources Development Fund, it combines medical and oceanological research as well as educational activities. Dituri conducts daily physiology experiments to monitor. how the human body responds to prolonged exposure to extreme pressure.

As the professor himself put it, the idea is to fill the world’s oceans, take care of them, live in them and be really nice to them.
