“Although Tesla did not discuss reducing import duties with Indian authorities, it offered to build a new factory, albeit without specifying location and investment,” the report said.
The offer comes after India last year refused to accept Tesla’s request to cut auto import duty, which could reach 100%.
India wanted the automaker to produce cars locally, but Tesla wanted to “test” the market by importing cars first.
As reported by Ukrinform, electric car maker Tesla will recall more than 1.1 million cars from the Chinese market from May 19 due to a software bug.
