At that time, the company did not confirm the information, but now Carl Pei have confirmed that this will indeed be the new SoC of your next cell phone.

The CEO stated that with this chip Nothing Phone (2) would be a significant step forward compared to Phone (1). The model released last year was equipped with a chipset Snapdragon 778G+, which, despite being quite competent, still performs well below the top model. Pei claims that with the new chip, model (2) will have twice the opening speed of (1) and 80% higher overall performance.

The executive claims that the choice in favor of a high-performance chip from the Snapdragon 8 instead of Snapdragon 7 thanks to significant improvements in all aspects. Because of this, the company decided to use the top-end chip released last year rather than an intermediate model such as Snapdragon 7 Generation 2.

According to the founder of the company, one of the advantages Snapdragon 8+ Generation 1 and its camera processing, which includes 18-bit image signal processing (ISP) with up to 4000 times more camera data than the ISP used in the phone (1). Another point about choosing this chip is that it has been extensively tested since its launch and currently has a number of optimizations to improve the user experience.

Unfortunately, Carl Pei did not specify when the company will launch Nothing Phone (2). On its official website, the manufacturer claims that it will present the smartphone at an event that will take place in the summer in the northern hemisphere, that is, in June, July and August.
