Failures in the operation of Russia’s Unified State Automated Information System (EDAIS) in the wake of DDoS attacks began to lead to the closure of breweries.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Kommersant with reference to market participants.

According to the publication, Moscow Brewing Company, which on May 5 operates a factory in Mytishchi with an annual capacity of 80 million branches and produces beer “Zhiguli Barnoe”, “Khamovniki”, “Trekhgornoe”, Bavaria, Faxe and others. Line capacity – 90 thousand boxes per hour. The fact is that IPC has a serious shortage of free storage capacity, so the company had to stop production.

A source in the paper believes other major breweries may have stopped production.

Failures in the work of EDAIS alcohol market participants were noticed on 3 May. The next day, system users reported delays or their inability to fully record invoices. This could be due to a DDoS attack that Ukrainian hackers claimed responsibility for. An industry source said that on the morning of May 4, the EDAIS operator announced that the attacks had been halted. “However, we assume that there will still be delays in the system until all pending applications since the middle of yesterday are processed.”

According to the publication’s industry counterparts, as a number of market participants continue to experience problems, it is urgent that EDAIS be allowed temporarily not to be used so that shipments can continue until the situation stabilizes. However, there are doubts that major retailers will accept goods without EDAIS. On the other hand, the repetition of the situation threatens to continue to stop production with all its negative consequences.

After the start of the war, Russia was subjected to extensive sanctions by the world community.
