The Turkish Armed Forces took delivery of two more local Aksungur large multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicles. About this reported İsmail Demir, President of Turkish Defense Industry, is on social networks. Turkish medium altitude UAV Aksungur is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and destruction of enemy targets.
İsmail Demir also published a video of the flight of one of these drones. The Aksungur drone is produced by the Turkish company Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). It was developed on the Anka unmanned aerial vehicle platform and in a very short time – 18 months,
TAI started flight tests of a promising mid-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle with a long flight duration within the scope of the YFYK (High Payload Capacity) program in the spring of 2019. The first flight of the Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicle took place on 20 March. In October 2021, the Turkish Navy received the first batch of such attack aircraft.
The drone can carry a payload of up to 750 kilograms (including guided weapons). Aksungur’s working ceiling is 6100-7600 m, and in the future – up to 12,200 m. The drone is equipped with a satellite control system. It is known that the maximum flight time of a drone is at least 50 hours.
Aksungur is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and destruction of enemy targets, including those out of sight.
For offensive missions, the UAV can carry guided weapons on six underwing suspension nodes, including TEBER-81 (laser-guided MK-81) and TEBER-82 (laser-guided MK-82) guided bombs, HGK-3, UPS, guided. 70 mm Cirit missile and laser-guided ammunition MAM-L and MAM-C, long-range anti-tank guided missiles L-UMTAS. Active use of the multi-purpose Turkish Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicle started in the second quarter of 2021.
