The PC version of The Last of Us Part I was without a doubt the worst port of the three The game that achieved compatibilityat least so far, and the truth is that the thing has more merit than you can imagine, because it had very strong “rivals” in this sense, and strangely one of them is Batman Arkham Knight, which came from the hands of the same developer (Iron Galaxy).
I have discussed this with you many times and I never tire of repeating it. The Last of Us Part I arrived on PC in such a sorry state that it was insulting players, and it was so poorly finished that it felt more like what you’d expect from an alpha than a final game. This is from someone who enjoyed the franchise on PS4 and has it one of his most popular within the genre.
If you think I’m exaggerating, remember that it took 40 minutes to two hours to preload the shaders, and Despite everything, I still had problems with stuttering. Oh wait, there’s more to it and it’s that The Last of Us Part I on PC is a total bummer as it has enormous load times that don’t make sense, it always maintains a very high CPU usage. it requires an absolutely unreasonable amount of graphics memory.
The issue of graphics memory consumption in The Last of Us Part I has led some to believe that 8GB graphics cards are dead, but nothing could be further from the truth. Judging the reality of the graphics sector by the poor optimization of a few games is nonsense and it is absurd when we see it games with much higher graphic quality such as Cyberpunk 2077, A Plague Tale: Requiem or Red Dead Redemption 2 work without problems in 6 GB and 8 GB graphics memory configurations.
I already told you then that this port of The Last of Us Part I for PC I was very heartbroken and that their demands were not genuine and Digital Foundry did nothing but agree with me. A well-known and respected media outlet has released a new video where they break down the state of the game after the numerous patches it has received, and yes, there have been some improvements, but it’s still far from what it should be.
At least the medium quality textures now look the way they should, no longer looking like the equivalent of the ultra low ones and graphics memory consumption decreased by an average of 1.5 GB although the texture quality has improved. The load time of the shaders has also decreased, but the optimization is still noticeable by its absence, the CPU consumption is very high and completely unjustified, and in the end there are a lot of bugs that make The Last of Us Part I for PC starting to look like a beta and still not a finished game .
