One of the most anticipated features of the new Bing has finally arrived. As you may remember, at the beginning of the week we told you that Microsoft was deploying a widget for Android and iOS. In the announcement of this launch, Microsoft assumed other new features that were close to debut, and among them was something that we have been talking about for a long time. the long-awaited history of conversations with Bing.

As I say, it’s not really a surprise because after user demand for this feature since its early days, we already had official confirmation that it was in the works at the end of March. However, it is conceivable that the infrastructure necessary to secure history, i.e. the one that will have to preserve it, It must be of a size that is difficult for an ordinary mortal to measureand that its management also presents certain technical and regulatory difficulties.

So even though they told us at that moment that they were already going to work, it made sense to imagine that the change would not be immediatealthough I’ll admit that I’m a bit surprised that given the success of ChatGPT and how it works (which includes a history from day one) Redmond didn’t include this feature in the list of those that should already be available from the very early launch of the service, because it’s something that has always been highly valued on the OpenAI chatbot.

The good news for those who have been waiting for this is this Bing conversation history is now available. As you can see in the image above, when you access the chatbot, a list of recent conversations you’ve had with the chatbot will appear on the right-hand side, so with a simple click of the mouse, you’ll be able to resume the conversation exactly where you left off. At least in the tests I’ve done, it works really fast, even faster than getting a new question answered.

By picking up the conversation where it left off when you left it, You will see that the remaining interaction counter is preserved, and if it’s a conversation where you’ve reached your limit, you’ll be able to view it again, but of course you won’t be able to continue. This is no doubt another reason why Microsoft can be expected to continue to polish Prometheus to avoid hallucinations and thus increase the number of interactions per conversation.
