As reported by Ukrinform, the BBC reported it.
The robot, which mimics human hand joints and has more wrist rotation, is able to make small, precise incisions while controlling it with a joystick, the surgeon said.
Surgeon Adam Peritt, who pioneered the technology, said that it was completely different from the old-fashioned surgeries performed in the past.
According to him, the robot is currently only used on some patients, but he hopes that in the future almost all breast surgeries will be performed with robot assistance.
“After years of operating on patients using our own technique, we need to move on to something completely new. But the advantage of robotic surgery is that it’s pretty easy to learn and you can adapt very quickly.”
Thoracic surgery is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and operative treatment of diseases of the thoracic organs.
As reported by Ukrinform, researchers from the University of Cambridge (UK) have created a “robotic” hand that can hold objects, printed on a 3D printer.
