Gree Electric is a major home appliance manufacturer and is also engaged in the manufacture of smartphones. However, the company is now stopping phone production due to falling smartphone sales.

Gree is disbanding its smartphone division

For those who don’t know, the company is a well-known consumer electronics manufacturer and is known for its air conditioners. However, the brand tried to diversify its product line and even announced its entry into the smartphone market. In fact, the first phone model was announced in 2015, but some officials even claimed that the brand has the potential to easily surpass Xiaomi in the phone market.

However, after only a few years in this segment, the company announced its withdrawal from the market. This news in particular comes with smartphone shipments in the Chinese market falling 11 percent in the first quarter of this year. This is the lowest level in the last ten years. According to the news of Chinese media outlet Jiemian, Gree has disbanded the core team of the smartphone division.
