The official account of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made an interesting post. In the images, a drone appears next to the revolvers along with the question: “How do illegal weapons end up in the hands of criminals in Canada?”. The question is rhetorical, because the police themselves found this answer when they found a drone that crossed the US border with 11 illegal semi-automatic Glocks with a scratched serial number.

The incident took place on April 29, when police were alerted by local residents of Port Lambton, a small village in the region, that a drone carrying something suspicious would get stuck in a tree. OPP used a firetruck to retrieve the drone and found 11 semi-automatic Glocks in plastic packaging.

Officials believe the drone illegally crossed the US border and entered eastern Michigan via the St. Clair River. So far, the Ontario police have no further information about who piloted the drone and who may have received the weapon.

Drones are also being used to commit crimes.

It is not news that drones are being used to commit crimes. The versatility and small size of the devices favor criminals who use drones to carry out a wide variety of illegal activities.

Here in Brazil, an R$80,000 drone will deliver cell phones and drugs to a prison in the Xarqueadas municipality in Rio Grande do Sul. According to the specifications provided by the authorities at the time, the aircraft had a large payload capacity and could easily be used to transport large quantities of items to local penitentiaries. During the seizure, 3.9 kg of marijuana, 3.1 kg of cocaine and 1.1 kg of crack were found near the aircraft, as well as 2,600 reais in cash, in addition to smartphones.
