No.New week, new WhatsApp feature. Some time ago, such a phrase would have been almost unthinkable, as its recovery rate has been quite… well, let’s say very calm for quite some time. However, we have been testing the new features for almost a year and a half, and the deployment of some of them has grown exponentially to the great joy of users, who today make it the most used instant messenger service in the world.
Just a week ago, without going further, the rollout of Chat Lock, a long-awaited feature, because it allows us to protect the conversations we want with the biometric identification / password / PIN of the device used to access them, but the point is that in the immediate in the previous weeks, we learned about the transcription of audio notes, about the beta version for the WhatsApp web, and that there is already a beta version for Wear OS, to mention the main news of the last 30 days. With the exception of Microsoft with Bing, I can hardly think of any other services or applications that are as fast in this regard.
Some features (or their beta versions) will arrive as a surpriseas happened for example with the beta mode for the web interface, while further developments are known and expected well in advance. The best example of this case was the arrival of the accompanying mode, that is, the ability to use the same account on two or more smartphones, a debut that also took place a little less than a month ago, but was already announced and seen with quite a bit earlier.
Today we’re once again seeing a feature that’s been expected for some time, with Meta confirming on the instant messaging service’s blog that WhatsApp now lets you edit messages in conversations. This feature, as we can read in the mentioned publication, has already started to be deployed, although this process will take place gradually, so it will be completed in a few weeks. At the time of writing, I’ve been testing the latest version of the iOS app and this feature is not showing up at the moment.
Its operation is quite simple, we will only have to long press the message we want to edit to display its context menu, in which the option to edit the message will now appear. After clicking on it, we can edit the message, which, yes, will appear in the conversation from then on with the new text, but also with a note that it was edited and the date and time when the edit was made.
