A Dutch consumer association plans to sue Google for grossly violating user privacy.

This has been reported by Ukrinform with reference to: No.

“The consumer association is preparing to sue Google. According to the union, the company is grossly violating users’ privacy,” the message reads.

It was noted that if the American company does not cease this activity and does not pay compensation, the association intends to apply to the court.

Previously, the consumer association had succeeded in a similar process against Facebook.

“Google is the most famous data processing company in the world,” says Gerard Spierenburg, representative of the consumer association.

According to the association, Google uses a variety of techniques, so users often unwittingly and therefore unintentionally allow the company to collect data, which is illegal.

At this stage, the Dutch Consumer Association wants to begin negotiations for Google to pay compensation to all Dutch people who have used the company’s services since March 1, 2012. If the parties fail to reach an agreement, the association will go to court.

In response, Google said it takes complaints about user privacy violations very seriously.

As Ukrinform reported, in March this year the court ruled that Facebook violated the privacy of users in the Netherlands.

A court in the Netherlands has concluded that Facebook violated the privacy of Dutch users of the platform.

The decision was taken in a lawsuit filed by the Consumers Association and the Data Privacy Foundation (DPS).

The court ruled that Facebook did not sufficiently inform Dutch users about what the platform was doing with their data. In doing so, Facebook violates privacy law, which requires it always be clear why and for what purpose certain sensitive data is being processed.

The court decision covers the period 2010-2020.

Last year, a consumer association urged Dutch Facebook users to join it in a lawsuit against the social network. Now there are about 190,000 of them.
